The People Versus The People: A Documentary By Lebogang Rasethaba Centred On Black Love

We often preach 'Black Love this, Black Love that'; but do we practise it?  Well, the latest documentary that is set to spark dialogue once it premiers is, The People Versus The Peopledirected by Lebogang Rasethaba and centred on Black Love. The doccie also delves into other important aspects within the spectrum of Black Love such as: Black tax, Black empowerment and Black unity.

The film which hit select Ster Kinekor cinemas in South Africa is set to premier on Saturday3rd August on MTV Africa (DStv channel 130).

The People Versus The People is a third instalment which forms a part of a trilogy that premiered back in 2016 starting off with The Versus The Rainbow Nation followed by The People Vs Patriarchy   in 2017.

It features youth from different backgrounds as they tackle conversations on capitalism, mental health internalised oppression, self-worth among other pressing issues.

According to Lebogang Rasethaba, "The aim of the film is to highlight the internalised conflicts that exist within us which happens to be a product of systemic racism, patriarchy and a classist capitalist system. This doccie looks at how these inner conflicts exist because of the absence of a deep sense of self-worth and a lack of in-depth understanding of the spectrum of black love."
