Lebogang Rasethaba's Documentary "The People Versus The Rainbow Nation" Captures Concerns Of Youth In Post-Apartheid South Africa

Renowned South African filmmaker, Lebogang Rasethaba captures concerns of youth in post-apartheid South Africa in a new documentary titled, "The People versus The Rainbow Nation".

The People Versus The Rainbow Nation is a documentary directed by Lebogang Rasethaba, produced by Allison Swank and commissioned by MTV and MTV Base. According to MTV, "This documentary explores the unrest at the root of the #FeesMustFall movement by following the lives of a diverse range of South African university students. On the other side of this conundrum is that of the universities in South Africa struggling to play catch-up for all their years of stagnation." The thought provoking doccie premiered on 21st April on MTV.

It has been over 20 years since the country's liberation and like any other nation, South Africa has its fair share of ups and downs. With so many questions about South Africa's "Rainbow Nation" notion, whether it's a myth or not, young people voice their struggle for freedom and so much more.

MTV further states, the documentary is aided by the poignant commentary of media personalities and thought leaders such as Nina Hastie, Simphiwe Dana, Nakhane Toure, Gareth Cliff, Reason, Lebohang Nova Masango, Milisuthando Bongela, Pearl Thusi and Gugu Mhlungu. The film is still running on MTV (channel 130) and MTV Base (channel 322) on DStv.
