SA Artist Toya Delazy Becomes The Fourth Powerpuff Girl On Cartoon Network Across Africa

BY STELLA WAAFRIKA

Congratulations are in order for South African artist, Toya Delaz. She joins one of broadcasting powerhouse brand Cartoon Network show, Powerpuff Girls. If you remember correctly, we shared the news last year about a collaboration  to create an all-African Powerpuff Girls theme song.  Read more about it HERE

Toya Delazy will be lending her voice to bring to life a new Powerpuff Girl in the upcoming five-episode special The Powerpuff Girls: Power of Four which premiers on September 23-24 on Cartoon Network.

However, Delazy will only voice the Africa feed, meaning her voice will only be heard on the African continent. The international kids channel says,"Cartoon Network has joined forces with 15 super-powered celebrities across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia who will each lend their voice to the newly revealed fourth Powerpuff Girl."

"The first local celebrities to be named as the voice of this mysterious fourth Powerpuff Girl are South Africa's hip-hop sensation Toya Delazy, who will star as the character across Africa, and Australian YouTuber Wengie, who has voiced the character for Australia and New Zealand."

"I have always dreamed of being the voice of a cartoon character. Never did I think I would be recording a voice for Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls, though," said Delazy.
The South African artist also took to twitter to express her latest adventure, "And just like that, became a power puff girl. Much love to my @cartoonnetwork for trusting me with this epic job."

Senior Vice-President at Turner Broadcasting, which owns Cartoon Network, Jamie Ondarza, expanded on why the pump it up hit maker was the perfect fit for the character. He expressed,"We at Cartoon Network are so excited by the growth we have seen with Toya Delazy. Toya is definitely a perfect fit as the fourth Powerpuff Girl. She is confident, bubbly and quirky, all the values that we are familiar with, love and appreciate. We have a lot of surprises up our sleeves so be sure to watch this space. All details are set to be revealed later in September," says Ondarza.

The Powerpuff Girls tells a story about super-powered sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
