Issa Rae Set To Join Aspirational African Voices Next Month At The Inaugural In Good Company Experience Themed ‘Building The Africa Of Tomorrow'


In Good Company – an innovative and inclusive women empowerment programme Powered by DStv brings a celebration of women to Johannesburg, South Africa this August featuring multi-talented American actress, writer and producer Issa Rae as keynote speaker.

The In Good Company experience will be held on Tuesday, 28 August 2018 at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton and will feature a mix of powerful key note addresses, engaging panel discussions, one-on-one interviews and live entertainment. The speaker list comprises of incredible female and male leaders from different industries who are passionate about gender diversity & exclusivity as well as passionate about building Africa. They will share their stories as well as their views on building the Africa of Tomorrow.

The Insecure star will be joined by speakers Xoliswa Daku (CEO of DCI Holdings and Daku Group of Companies), Mzamo Masito (Chief Marketing Officer, Google Africa),  Nivani Govinder, is (Head of SMB Marketing, Sub-Saharan Africa at Google), Charl Basil (Marketing Director, Pernod Ricard South Africa),   TT Mbha (CEO of Black Real Estate).

Rae first attracted attention for her work on the YouTube web series Awkward Black Girl. She gained further recognition for creating, writing & starring in the HBO television series Insecure. She received 2 Golden Globe Award Nominations for Best Actress. Issa stands for women and women working together. She celebrates the connectivity of the black girl society. She is clear on her truth and continues to break boundaries.
 
We are excited to announce the inaugural In Good Company Experience designed to celebrate women and discuss innovative ideas that will contribute towards changing the current state of affairs in gender equality. Under the theme ‘Building the Africa of tomorrow’, this will be an authentic space designed for shared learning.

“Achieving gender diversity is imperative for all of us, it’s not just an issue to be solved and championed by women. It affects us all hence we found it important for us to create a space where both women and men can get together and start ideating for solutions to change the current status quo. We live in a mixed gender society and therefore the conversation cannot happen with women alone” says Jabulile Gwala, Founder of In Good Company.

Following the In Good Company Series talks across the country, the IGC Experience will bring together the voices of aspirational African women and men from various fields of the business spectrum focusing on:

  • Arts, Media, Film & Entertainment
  • Technology & Digital Insights
  • Property Management
The IGC experience will also pay special homage to a South African trailblazer with an Honorary Award. This will be announced at a later stage.
South African award-winning actress, humanitarian and philanthropist Nomzamo Mbatha will be host for the day with live performance and entertainment from singer, songwriter, TV and Radio personality, Unathi Nkayi .
