New Music Obsession: The Timeless Sounds Of Congolese Artist Tresor

I have been meaning to share this new music obsession but life wouldn't let me prosper. I first heard Tresor's music at the beginning of summer last year and I haven't stopped ever since. His music has been and continues to be on rotation on all major radio stations. Like life may have it, he has had his fair share of trials and tribulations, however, he did not let that define his future.

His name, Tresor, means treasure in French and is pronounced as Trezor. This son of the Congo's music is described as a new soul sound, moulded in Africa. The multi award winning and platinum selling artist is signed to 2015 record label giant, Sony RCA in Africa and Ultra Records globally. The singer/songwriter and producer has written songs for renowned artists such as Zahara, Heavy K to name a few.

He released his debut album titled, VII in 2015; which he has worked on for the past seven years. The album features collaborations with South Africa's celebrated artists like AKA, Beatenberg, Khuli Chana and The Soil.

His singles, Mount Everest, Never Let Me Go, Ever Green, Zambezi are some of the feel good sounds that have enjoyed airplay in Mzansi and internationally. Congolese music is one of the most influential sounds on the continent, from the old school sounds of Koffi Olumide, to the late Papa Wemba (RIP) and now the new school melodies of Tresor we sure continue to bask in a music masala.  Tresor's music is what feel good sounds are made of, rich and soothing to the ear; not to mention timeless.

This past weekend, the Never Let Me Go crooner walked away with a South African Music Award (SAMA22) for best pop album. A nod well deserved.

From car guard to multiple award-winning and platinum selling artist. Indeed, our dreams are valid; with action of course. Looking forward to more of his music.

He's on twitter @tresorofficial and facebook TRESOR Official.
