Podcast: Code For Cape Town Encouraging Girls To Use Technology To Create Solutions To Social Issues

By Stella WaAfrika

I recently had an insightful not to mention informative talk with Andrea Peterson, the community manager for Code For Cape Town about the impeccable work they do.

Code for Cape Town is a NGO that introduces young aspiring women into the world of web building and exposes them to opportunities in the IT Industry. The programme teaches coding in a way that is empowering to young women: it's fun, creative and a powerful tool for social impact. The Code for Cape Town has three key outcomes: to develop web skills, shift perception of gender equality and ensure an enabling environment. Ultimately, it is Code for Cape Town 's main goal to provide a platform for women to grow in the IT industry in Africa.
