Johannesburg Readies For Africa's Premier TV and Film Market, DISCOP Africa



The largest TV and Film market in Africa, DISCOP Africa, will be held from 4-6 November, 2015 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg South Africa.

What is DISCOP Africa?

market that hosts over 300 international sellers representing global and regional, veteran and fast-rising, distributors and producers of pop-culture, multiplatform, multiscreen, television content including films, series, reality and competition shows, sports and children’s content and documentaries will be present as well as the world’s largest contingent of suppliers of content created in Africa. 

Within  DISCOP Africa's market, they hold sub even named DISCOPRO,  where independent African producers compete to get their projects funded.

The event 
During the 3-day market, these sellers will meet with 500+ key buyers including decision-making level, programming and acquisitions executives representing Africa’s most dynamic content distribution platforms, from established public broadcasters and satellite Pay-TV operators, to up-and-coming, broadband-based, outlets servicing fragmented audiences on the go.
Every year DISCOP Africa hosts 2500+ delegates, 1750+ companies and 85+ countries. 

A growing number of national and regional umbrellas will categorize SELLERS from Cote D’Ivoire, Kenya, and Nigeria; from France and other parts of the European Union; and from China, Canada, Russia and Turkey.

This year marks DISCOP Africa's 10th edition and the main focus for three days will include:

Digital Year One - Wednesday 4 November
Four months after the official switch over deadline, Africa is embarking on a massive implement process to provide DTT and other digital services to the public. 
The one-day conference will look at how the continent has managed to enhance and expedite consumer awareness around digital migration thus far.

The China Day - Thursday 5 November
With 2015 being the Year of China in South Africa, China will be DISCOP
AFRICA’s 11th edition’s Country of Honor. This program will explore partnership opportunities between Africa and China in the televised entertainment sectors.

Following the stars of DISCOP AFRICA -  Friday 6 November
In a world where millennial generations and emerging social media stars seriously impact traditional television business, eight of the world’s most innovative, forward-thinking and influential key players in our industry will take a look at the future of television with expert case-studies, visionary presentations and unique business models.
