#AfricaNot4Sale: Simphiwe Dana For Amnesty International

South African songstress, Simphiwe Dana has been named ambassador for Amnesty International.
The multi-award winning artist/activist will be part of a movement defending those who are denied justice or freedom.

Amnesty International, in partnership with Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa will officially launch #AfricaNot4Sale on 10th April at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Market Opening Ceremony.
The launch of #AfricaNot4Sale at the JSE coincides with Amnesty International's two-day Roundtable Dialogue on the State of Africa's Youth in the Age of Africa Rising.

The primary objective is to generate five recommendations that will be taken to the World Economic Forum on Africa in June 2015 where the youth will call on state and non-state actors to stop auctioning off the future of African youth in the name of economic growth.

Edwad Ndopu says, "We spent the last few months, working with partners and friends of AI offices throughout Africa scouring the continent in search of the most inspiring and dynamic young thought leaders and activists to participate in the Africa Roundtable. We eventually settled on 20 remarkable youth, all under the age of 30, from various sectors and backgrounds that span almost all sub-regions of Africa."
"These young human rights champions all represent vibrant youth constituencies from different segments of society. And that is precisely what makes them as a group so incredibly special; each one of them brings somethings something refreshing and unique to this Roundtable."

"We see ourselves as catalysts in the formation of an Africa-wide movement for dignity and empowerment of youth everywhere."

Side note:  Simphiwe's work as an influential artist and activist speaks for itself; it is no surprise that she's part of the this campaign. She's the perfect fit.
Don't you just love this,  "the youth will call on state and non-state actors to stop auctioning off the future of African youth in the name of economic growth?"

Relevant campaign. Congratulations Sistah :)
