Remembering June 16: Happy Youth Day South Africa :)

Happy Youth Day!

Youth Day also known as the Soweto Uprising  is a remarkable day and one of the  defining moments in South Africa's history. On June 16th, the youth of 1976 held various protests by a number of high school students in Soweto protesting against Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in school during the apartheid regime.

To you Mzansi youth, you're blessed to be from a country like South Africa. In respect of all the freedom fighters and the 1976 youth, I urge you to count your blessings and maximize on the opportunities this country has got to offer.

They paved a way for the fruits you enjoy today. Through their resilience and fighting for what they believed in; they stood for something.  So, before you 'TURN UP', do you stand for something and how well/much do you capitalise on the opportunities in this country?

Always remember and be grateful! In the wise words of Marcus Garvey, "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots."

What does Youth Day ignite in you as a South African youth?
