The multiple award winning writer is one of 20 women nominated for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction for her latest offering, 'Americanah'.
The awards focus on work by women written in English with a prize worth $50,000.
The opinioted happy feminist is the only African nominated alongside Donna Tartt (The Goldfinch), Eleanor Catton (The Luminaries) and Margaret Atwood (MaddAddam).
The Six finalists will be announced on April 7th and the winner will be revealed on June 4th.
