MTV Shuga Third Season Coming To Nigeria




Another season of MTV Shuga will be hitting our screens later on this year and this time, the ever so edutaining and informative drama series will be shot in Nigeria with a predominantly Nigerian cast and crew. 

The third season is set to air on World AIDS day, 1st December 2013 on MTV Base (channel 322 on DSTV) and the cast includes Nigerian actor and musician, Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyichukwu who plays the role of Femi, Kenyan actor, singer and radio presenter, Nick Mutuma who's played the role of Leo since Shuga's inception and a number of Nigerian Musicians such as Wiz Kid, Banky W will be involved in both cameo and acting roles. More cast members will be revealed at a later date.

This season's director is celebrated Nigerian film-maker, Biyi Bandele (director of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's feature film, 'Half of a Yellow Sun') and will be directing the eight-part series. 

As always, the series aims to create awareness about HIV/AIDS.

Shuga will be produced by MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation in collaboration with NACA, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). Other partners include Girl Hub, a partnership between the Nike Foundation and the UK’s Department of International Development (DFID) which helps transform the lives of adolescent girls living in poverty by engaging the girls themselves as active participants. PEPFAR (The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) has also expressed a commitment to support the campaign.
