Yay :)  Good news for East African content. Remember when we told you Maisha Magic (read more HERE) was closing down end of May? Well, M-Net has made provision for another platform to showcase a variety of East African stories in various languages hence re-branding Maisha Magic Swahili to Maisha Magic East

In a statement from M-net East Africa, they are delighted to announce that from the 1st of June 2015, Maisha Magic Swahili will enter an exciting new era under a revamped name…. Maisha Magic East!

This rebranding will also see the channel expand its offering to include content from the entire East Africa region.

Currently, Maisha Magic Swahili largely caters for Swahili speaking audiences along the coastal strip of East Africa. However, the new Maisha Magic East channel will establish itself as the new destination for the best television entertainment content offered in major East African languages like Kiswahili, Sheng, Kikuyu, Luganda and English TV for all Kenyan, Ugandan and Tanzanian viewers.

“We have seen the evolution of a great channel with Maisha Magic Swahili since its launch. However, we aim to build on the success of this channel for the entire region by bringing together the best of East African talent under one umbrella and give our viewers more access to their favourite shows and exceptional talent ,” says MultiChoice East Africa Regional Director, Stephen Isaboke.

Maisha Magic East will feature a wide range of entertaining programmes from various genres including comedies, reality TV, lifestyle, music, East African films, telenovelas and drama series chosen with the East African viewer in mind.

The channel will also carry regional content customized for each country. These regional blocks will range from entertaining Bongo films and Swahili series featuring the biggest names in Tanzania for the Tanzanian audiences to a variety of Luganda comedy and drama shows for the Ugandan fans and exclusive Kenyan films as well as exciting and entertaining drama and comedy shows for Kenya.

Other award-winning and popular shows that will be showcased on Maisha Magic East include Side by Side, One in a Million, Tujuane Plus, Vitimbi, Maisha Magic Original Movies, Don’t Mess with Kansiime, Utandu, Bongo Films and Swahili-dubbed Indian movies among others.
