Happy Africa Day

Africa day (May 25th) is an annual commemoration of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity which was replaced by the African Union.
On May 25th 1963, thirty African heads of state came together and formed the OAU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Africa day is aimed at celebrating African unity. Celebrations are held in various African countries with performances from some of Africa’s finest sons and daughters, poets, artists etc all in the name of Africa.

On a contrary note, are we as Africans united like the commemoration stipulates or is it one of those 1/365 days we live on this beautiful continet that habours us whilst we point fingures and judge our fellow African brothers and sisters? Cliche as this may sound, we should celebrate and unite as Aficans on a daily basis because that’s who we are; acknowledgement and taking pride in our motherland should be common courtesy.

As we celebrate Africa day, lets remain true to who we are (AFRICANS) and pray for our brothers and sisters in war striken countries and those faced with drought and famine and also remember that their situations do not make them less African. In addition to that, lets take pride in building and developing mother Africa by looking out for one another for a greater Africa.

HAPPY AFRICA DAY! :)
